The Best Way to Cut Your Fiber Optics
So, what is the best way to prepare fiber optics for the layout? The best way I have found is to cut the fiber perpendicular to the fiber’s length using a shearing action. The first tool I used was a wire stripper, which conveniently had shears for cutting. I then started to use a pair of wire cutters, until my grandson, Austin, declared ‘Oh no Grandad, that will create a squeezed end’. He was right!! So, I returned to the shear type and bought a special pair just for cutting fibers.
